Barbera d'Alba 'Trevigne' Domenico Clerico 2023
The Barbera d'Alba "Trevigne" by Domenico Clerico is a red wine with intense characteristics. On the nose, there are hints of red forest fruits and cherry with pleasant spicy nuances. On the palate, it is a wine with good freshness and savoriness, warm, intense, persistent, and with well-integrated tannins.
The Barbera d’Alba “Trevigne” is a Piedmontese wine fruity and fresh that is always uncorked with great pleasure. It is a typical regional red, the result of the beautiful relationship between grape variety and territory, a relationship that is further enhanced by the prestige of the plots where Domenico Clerico cultivates the Barbera grapes used to create this label, two of the crus from which he also obtains some of his Barolo. A bottle that among its qualities also has the ability to calmly undergo an additional period of aging in glass.
This Barbera d’Alba “Trevigne” comes from vines that are around 25 years old, cultivated within two renowned crus for Barolo production, Ginestra and San Pietro. The yield per hectare is intentionally kept low by the Domenico Clerico winery, and never exceeds 45 hectoliters per hectare. The bunches, carefully selected during the manual harvest phase, are destemmed, and the berries are pressed. The must ferments by macerating on the skins for about 10-14 days, in stainless steel containers. Then comes the aging, during which the wine rests for 16months both in French oak barriques and in large barrels.
The “Trevigne” is a Barbera d’Alba that, upon visual examination, presents itself with a deep and concentrated ruby red color. The olfactory spectrum revolves around mainly fruity notes, alternating with spicy sensations that emerge to the nose with quite intense aromas. On the palate, it has an excellent body, structured, with a enveloping sip, characterized by a nice freshness and a savory imprint, with a slightly astringent tannin. One of the many gems created by the Domenico Clerico winery, a reference production reality located within the magnificent Piedmontese Langhe.
